Viewing market reaction from the consumer point of view, we have estimates of the number of preorders for the Apple Watch in United States for the six hour period on April 10, 2015 at one million. They stopped taking orders for the smartwatch after that. New orders will begin in June. That summarizes the smartwatch market sentiment. Now for the specs.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF LEADING SMARTWATCHES

Apple stands up to stiff competition from established smartwatch companies such as Pebble, LG, Google, Samsung, Motorola and Sony. From among leading competitors to Apple Watch such as LG Watch Urbane, Pebble Time, Moto 360, Asus Zen Watch, Sony Smartwatch 3, Martian Smartwatch, Android Wear, Huawei Watch, Pebble Steel, LG G Watch and Microsoft Band we pick out a few to compare features.

Dimensions and battery life

Dimension wise, the Apple Watch is much smaller than the LG G Watch R, the Pebble Time or the Moto 360 at 38.6 x 33.3 x 10.5mm/ 42.5g and 42 x 35.9 x 10.5mm/50g. Built-in apps and processor

Then we come to the built-in apps. All the smartwatches have accelerometer. All the watches except Pebble Time and Moto 360 have a barometer. All watches except Pebble Time have a monitor for heart beat. LG G Watch R and Moto 360 have Google Now. Apple Watch has Siri and Apple Pay while Moto 360 has a pedometer.

The processor for the Apple Watch is the super duper Apple S1. LG G Watch R has Snapdragon 400 (512MB), Pebble Time has Cortex M4 and Moto 360 runs on Texas Instruments OMAP 3 chip and has 512 MB RAM Memory. Both Apple Watch and Moto 360 have Wi-Fi. All watches are water resistant with LG G Watch R and Moto 360 being IP67 certified.

Display and price

Display of the Apple Watch is 1.32- or 1.5-inch Retina display with sapphire screen (optional), for the LG G Watch R it is 1.3-inch Full Circle P-OLED, for the Pebble Time it is Color e-paper and for the Moto 360 it is 1.56-inch LCD, 320 x 290 pixels. Last but not the least, we come to the price. Apple Watch begins with a price tag of $349/£238 and goes upwards, LG G Watch R has a price of $279/£198, Pebble Time clocks in at $179/£119 while Moto 360 has a selling price of $287/£199.
